Some easy ways to calm your anxiety can be to put on some ambient sounds, like a low level radio or one of those CDs with rainforest sounds on it. Meditation can help, but it is a gradual process. You can also try drinking an anti-anxiety herbal tea like Kava or chamomile. It can also help to gradually reduce the level of light in the room over a period of weeks, this will program you to adjust to the darkness more slowly. Don't force it, as doing so can add more anxiety to the situation and make it worse.
