Dog Bite incident help?

about 2 years ago my friend and I got bit by a Rottweiler, my friend got bit in her face, and i in my leg. she sued and i didnt, because i was not 18 and my parents would have taken my money from me, she got about 80 grand. i have a severe fear of dogs, nightmares, and i now dont wear shorts because of the scar on my leg. is it too late for me to sue now that im of age?
