Motorcycle interchangeable parts?

I have a Yamaha Maxim 650 82 and I want to get new turn signals and mufflers. My question is 'can I just get any kind of muffler/light off ebay and install them on my bike? Do I need to watch out for specifics? Will vote for a best.
