Why is my husband like this?

He is 34 and works a lot of hours at his law firm. At home all he seems to care about is golf, fishing and sometimes his xbox. He doesn't read novels or relationship/self improvement books but sometimes the news online or something like Maxim. He likes mostly action movies or comedies and when I got him to watch Pillars of the Earth with me he was okay at first but by the last episode he was cranky. He doesn't talk much unless I get him going, but he is very sweet once he does talk. Our romantic life is great but I feel like I don't understand him otherwise. Why is he like this? What else can I do to get to understand him like I feel I once did when we were younger?
